People. Places. Things.
This is a place for nouns.

President Obama will be in my city on Tuesday.

Speaking at the junior college I went to, in fact.

Too bad it’s teachers and students only.

If I were to meet him, I already know what I would ask him:

“President Obama, I’m a 4th grade teacher at a Title I Charter school in Dallas. Many of my students are from poor working families, are first generation American, and speak English as a second language. Under your education proposal to hold teachers more accountable for student standardized test scores, am I to be held accountable for factors working against my students that are beyond my control?”

I think it’s a good question.

The difference between the city and the suburbs: Bumper Stickers

City: “God is not a Republican (Or a Democrat)”

Suburbs: “I’ll keep my guns, ammo, and money, and you keep the change”

City: A conglomeration of band stickers such as “Of Montreal” (There were more, but that’s the only one I can remember right now.)

Suburbs: “Roswell, New Mexico, 1947: I believe”

Reunion Arena!

theriversong:

Anyone ever been there in Dallas? I am going tonight for a ~special~ date and can’t help feeling like I will be on a giant lolly pop in the sky. LOL. Oh well. Hopefully the view will be unsmoggy.

Well, I’ve been there, but I doubt that’s where you are going since it no longer stands.

I’m going to assume you mean Reunion tower, and I’ve been there, too. Was before the new restaurant was in it, though. The floor spins, which is awesome. You can see for miles from 360 degrees.

Today I learned that I need more live music in my life

I was drinking it up like I was dying of thirst.

And the literal of that metaphor is all too possible in this heat.
